1. Tell me more about your self.
* mmmmm My name is Thabiso Ndlundla am 20 years old and a junior reporter here at the Voice of Tembisa.
2. Tell me about your childhood.
*Hmmmm wow my childhood was good ,i was very adventurous and i loved to explore a lot although they blows like any other childhood but they really caved me to be who i am today
3. During your child hood which career did you wanna follow?
* i wanted to pursue a career in aviation so most likely i wanted to be a pilot but due to lack of maths i could follow it so i ended up being a Dj because i was not sure which career to follow
4. So since you were a Dj ,where did journalism come from?
*Hmmmmmm i met journalism when i first came here to be an english news reader so personally i thought it will be coming here and reading the news then go home but only to find out it's more than that because you have to cover stories , make reports and also you have to conduct interviews so yeah that's how i met journalism.
5. when was that?
*it was last year so i came here and i was interviewed then i got the title of being a journalist
6. So how was the support system from your friends and family?
*wow mmmm the support from my family was like mmm ok our son finally got a stable job and that job is to be a news reader until i had to sit them down and explain what am really doing from there it was all good and they understood my job and they give me full support and as for my friends they were proud since they knew that i always wanted to be on radio so yeah that"s it .
7. Since you are a young journalism at first how did you handle the challenges of being a journalist?
*challenges mmmm wow ok, you know that challenges differ but some challenges are covering horrible stories because they some of the stories that as a young person you not suppose to be exposed to them so worst part even journalist they not supposed to be exposed to such horrible stories so if journalist can b e exposed to horrible stories then who are you as a junior reporter with no background of journalism so those are some of the challenges I faced but through consultation managed to get through them
8. So since you do not have journalism qualification , tell me how was your first story you covered , how it difficult?
*mmmmm No it was not difficult hey, it was a presumed murder so being the person from the hood/kasi so i think i know the ins and out of getting around such stories basically m it was not that difficult than i thought and the was someone who was besides me and giving me direction on how to do it so i can say it was not difficult
9. who is your role model?
*Wow mmmmm my role model is Nkepile Mabuse , she really does a good job and one day i would like to be like her or above her.
10. How it is to work for a community radio station?
*Its nice but hard at the same,, but the community one thing i love about them is that they very supportive and even the management is also supportive so the experience i have around the radio station is very priceless
11. why you chose radio other then news paper or television.?
*hmmmmmm I love radio with all my heart and other than that radio is very convenient and the most available source of media throughout Africa and most people listen to radio to be empowered so you at the person in radio you are part of the people who impart knowledge to the people so Yeah that's why i love radio
12. why Voice of Tembisa?
* i can say its a community radio station and its the closed and also its the one that gave me the opportunity to grow my self and i am who i am today because of voice of tembisa
13. Do you see yourself in another radio station?
*Yes, I wanna be in the SABC whether its YFM or Metro fm or even if its not SABC but one od the independent radio station like Power fm or 702
14.Where do you see yourself in the next two years?
*OH MY GOD, in next two years i see my self being the in SABC or one of the print media house.
15. Do you see yourself owning your own radio station?
*No, because running a radio station is hard work and getting the people to help you sustain the radio station is twice as hard so No i cant do that
16. As junior reporter do you meet deadlines ? and also do you feel sometimes that you cant handle the pressure?
*Yes, the deadlines are there i do meet them sometimes but i work hard
17. if you were given the opportunity to go back to school , would you go back?
*No , because i have never thought of my self being a journalist and since am a journalist i don't see my self being a journalist for multiple years because journalism is demanding a lot and i can meet up with those demands but i don't see myself being journalist for rest of my life
18.So what do you wanna be be side being a journalist?\
* I wanna become a Dj but i wanna be above being Dj so i wanna have my own record label and also have my own show that will keep me tuned to my fans because fan base is important to a Dj. and also produce music for the upcoming celebrities
19. How do you handle the pressure of being a journalist and a person who want to help people?
*You know journalist is a title and you must know that the is a person behind a journalist and remember the Umuntu NGumuntu ngabantu so if something is happening and i need to help then i help .
20. So where to from here as a journalist?
*hmmm like i said SABC radio or any other ndepend radio station
21. which story you best covered ?
* it was COSATU rally and it was a three day rally and when they played my reporters many people commented and even of the journalists from SABC so yeah that was the best story o covered an am also proud of my self.
22.Do you see your self getting married and having a family?
*Yes ,having yes but getting married is something else .
23. what advice would you give to upcoming journalist?
*hmmmm i would say be yourself, don't be shy,make contracts take advices and be open minded..
